THE BEACH OF ST. PETER-ORDING

The word vastness takes on a whole different meaning after a visit to the beach at SPO. The 12 kilometer long and up to 2 kilometer wide sandy beach of St. Peter-Ording is unique in Germany and offers its visitors a variety of recreational opportunities.
The endlessly long beach ensures that you always discover the optimal place for you – whether quiet and relaxed or in the middle of the hustle and bustle. In addition to many different sports such as beach sailing, SUP, beach volleyball and of course kiting, there is also plenty of room for sunbathers and bathers.
The beach is also a paradise for families. Germany’s largest sandbox not only invites you to build sandcastles, there is also a playground at every section of the beach. Swimming marshals and lifeguards from the tourist office and DLRG lifeguards are on duty at all five bathing spots in St. Peter-Ording. And at every stretch of beach, you’ll come across one of the pile-dwelling restaurants, whose wooden stilts disappear into the water at high tide.
Comfort on the beach is provided: there are numerous beach chairs, showers and toilets at each beach section. Dogs are also welcome on the beach. There are already sections where there are beach chairs that can be rented by dog owners. In addition, there are two 2.5 hectare dog run areas at the Bad and Ording beach section.
